Ducati New Gearbox Design

Three series already in progress and Ducati MotoGP has not been getting the most at the beginning of this season, after losing competitiveness with Yamaha and Honda Repsol. Ducati team was working hard to find new solutions, including brand-new gearbox design to be more competitive.

Honda Repsol become highly seeded teams in this season. Ducati also would not want to follow some of the changes made by Honda, including the system in the gearbox. Ducati will try to design and fine mimic existing system of gears in the gearbox Honda RC212V.

Development of the gearbox is the largest part of the development Ducati Desmosedici GP11. Rider Valentino Rossi has been providing input based on the results of the pilot and three race series that is already underway. Rossi wants the team from Bologna manufacturer can be more consistent in every series in the rest of the season.

Rossi has tried the new engine and chassis in Estoril, earlier this week. But Rossi has not tested the gearbox that had been prepared several weeks ago. Ducati chief mechanic Jeremy Burgess said the GP11 will soon be holding the gearbox to directly tested by The Doctor.

"The gearbox is a long job with significant changes to the system. But this is something we should do. This is not the science of a rocket, but is the thought process for designing the most complex systems," said Burgess told MCN, Friday (6 / 5 / 2011).

"If indeed the new gearbox can significantly increase the speed, I'll go down and go racing," joked Burgess. "This is not some kind of advantage in a record time for each round. Honda has a gearbox that is greater than the Yamaha, and it only helps drivers in passing gear for easier and faster, "continued the mechanical origin of this Australian.
